parting is sweet sorrow,

Mom and Dad left this morning about 8am, they had planned on getting up earlier but just didn't wake up. They no longer set alarms considering they are retired now.

Messed about the house for awhile, contemplating going to sleep but instead I just played on the computer. Finally got ready and headed over to Hooters for some lunch, got to see both Annas, the new HOTer one and the one who has the worst taste in men that I know of.

Went over to the Borders and then stopped in at the Mall TMac for the Terrapin The Dark Side Belgian Style Imperial Stout.

Home for a time before going to see BeckyT for Sushi at the Thai Diner over at the Discover Mills. Nice time although I feel I need to just grab her and sweep her off her feet. Oh well, no real chance of that.

Went out after that to Hooters and the start of the UGA Texas A&M bowl game, halftime with UGA ahead I moved over to Beefs and had a few beers and got to flirt with Jaime, talk to the "crew", Mike, Kieth and Fuzzy

woke up and found a problem, visit from family, movie

Woke up and went outside to find the water meter was full of water again. This time it was bubbling a lot. Went out and turned off the water and cursed for awhile. Got into a bit of an argument with the brother, just because I was pissed that it was broken again, not his fault.

We did get it all fixed again, this time NOT using a PVC fitting over the brass one. Instead he got a brass fitting and then a threaded male fitting in PVC, dug the hole bigger and then got two 45 angles to shift the pipe up so the fitting would attach properly to the outlet on the meter. Finished it about noontime and my brother's ex came over to visit about 1:30.

IT was nice to catch up with Joan, met her niece a really cute 10 yo, very smart and polite.

Had leftovers again for the 2nd day in a row, this is getting old, the ham was still excellent though. Watched Dreamcatcher, based on the novel by Stephen King, very good movie.

Drank a beer for 52 weeks on Flickr. The Ridgeway Brewing Santa's Butt. A Butt is a big keg for beer.

xmas day, cold and dreary, another interesting one

I really don't like Xmas. All the gift crap, I just as soon forget all the capitalistic crap.

I got Nicki something I hope she liked, a GPS, not very personal maybe but I've only been comfortable buying things like that for her. I sure can't pick out clothes she would like. I have no idea bout the sizes at all. Nicki felt compelled to buy everyone something. She did a good job and I helped a little. She got me a shirt that was interesting, a bit not me but due to her mother thinking I'm smaller than I am it's just a hair to small. Brian got a big book about the Universe and Mom and Dad got a frame with a bunch of pictures of Niki, them and Gina for the wall. IT was fun.

The rest of the early afternoon was spent getting ready for dinner, prepped the pots getting things ready to just pop on the stove and into the oven when needed. ChrisW arrived about 3pm and we were eating by about 4pm.

The meal consisted of Turkey, Ham, mashed potatoes, broccoli, spinach & cheese casserole, green bean casserole, candied sweet potatoes, celery with cream cheese, black olives. I forgot the stuffing and we also didn't get any cranberry sauce.

The rest of the evening was just hanging around and finally watching a movie downstairs in Brian's area and then playing Wii bowling.

I'm not messing with the beer database and web-pages.

a day at the aquarium, brian's dinner party and a lot of printing

We woke up about 9am and got ready to head out of the house and to the Georgia Aquarium by 11am. The place was mostly empty. Got to take lots of pictures, I have some great ones of the jelly fish. GREAT time with the family, Brian, Nicki, Mom and Dad.

Left there and stopped in at Fry's to get some ink for the EPSON printer so we can print photos from the cruises that Mom and Dad have.

Brian cooked up some really good pork tenderloin along with some potatoes with garlic, onions and mushrooms. Mom made the corn on the cob and broccoli. Later we had pie and cake, I opted for the cake. The feasting begins :)

the day before the day before, xmas shopping, and grocery shopping

Got up late again! But nothing much to do, just messed around with the garage door, got the sensors that I'd saved, thank God, from the new door opener I installed awhile back and wired them into the existing wires run through the wall. It worked but they do not connect to the currently installed brackets. I think I'm going to use some afro-engineering and just use Duct Tape.

I went over to the Mall area with Nicki and we did a bit of shopping for some of the people on her list, got two of them taken care of.

Then Mom and I went over to the WalMart at Collins Hill and picked up most of the things we would need for Christmas dinner.

Spent most of the evening just messing with my beer database, I may have the php web-pages done and the database finalized before I have to get back to work next year.

first day of vacation, some shopping, and milling around

Got up late due to messing on the computer to all hours of the night. We ended up driving around first to the Movie Time to pick up District 9 and then over to get a ham for Christmas Dinner.

We then headed over to Staples and looked over the scanners for photographs. We then dropped in at Fry's to look over stuff and finally get the Canon Scanner I've been looking into for quite some time. Then we had lunch at Quiznos and finally after wasting some time in the Target by the theater we went in a watched the new movie Avatar. I was really impressed, loved the movie even though the theme was an old and basically tired one. The effects were great and the action good. Never thought I'd lust after a blue woman. She didn't wear much in the movie although I guess it is all CGI sexy.

We came home after that and just ordered out for pizza and I messed on the computer way too much again.

Ended up drinking the Ommegang Adoration Ale (strong belgium ale).

A nice IPA, I like Pale Ales and this one is hoppy like an American IPA, not quite enough to make it overpowering. I'll get this one again.

Love the cleavage shot here, Ha, Ha and with a name like sword swallower....
Fernando who is currently out for the rest of the year, already, came by to check mail and move his stuff to a new cubicle. We ended up at the Bahama Breeze for lunch, it was nice. Although I got a glass of tea with a great big CRACK in it. Not sure how the waitress could have missed it.

Came home and since we didn't get to Trivia at Hooters I decided to possibly head over to Beefs, didn't and just hung around the house.

Stopped in after work, there was a couple of cuties at the bar, one Jaime (dirty blond, light brown) very flirty. Putting down the Bacardi Dragon Berry and 7 I think. She was paired up with a interesting girl friend who had some tattoos and short dark hair, looked to be a bit more tom-boy. The dude who works behind the bar sometimes (Ryan) was talking with them a bit and most of the guys at the bar were getting words in as well.

When I left so did they, and her friend's ex husband. Odd, hope to see them again.

last work day before the end of the year, parents arrive, dinner

Got up a little late, due to a later than normal evening just playing on the computer trying to get the OS installed. Then I just basically finished packing for the BIG carpet overhaul that will be happening at the end of the week, well tomorrow actually. Started on home before 3pm.

Mom and Dad made it to the house and Nicki texted me about the time I was arriving in Lawrenceville. We went out to dinner to the Olde Towne Tavern and had a great dinner, Mom, Dad, Nicki, Brian and I. About the largest family get together in a long time.

After we just hung out at the house and I got the rest of the software installed on my computer, about to try to do a few photos for the 52Beer2009 project and then get to bed.

cold today, fixed the water (brother) and beer to finish the day

Having spent too much time awake messing with my beer database I didn't get up til almost 10am and Brian was already outside having gone to the Home Depot and picked up some things to fix the pipe and even dug up the hole and removed the bad area of the pipe. We ended up going to the Home Depot about 4 times total, picking up different things each time. Brian even ended up buying a BIG compound miter saw and wood to make a BIGGER shelf for his DVDs and books.

We finally finished the pipe after having to cut it and splice it in again with a coupling two more times than we should have due to missalignment and making the pipe a bit too short.

Didn't do anything more than have a beer for the 52Beers2009, a Jiahu Chateau from Dogfish Head Brewery. It's another really old malt beverage recipe by a microanalysis of pottery residues by Chinese archaeologists of Jiahu.

Started the re-install of XP on my dual core machine, finished it finally and I should be able to get most of the things I need on the machine quickly enough.

some unhappy news about our water, afternoon with the brother and hooters time

Just before photographing the house I noticed that the area by the water meter in the front yard was in a puddle. Then I realized that there must be a leak by the meter. A few months ago they had come out and replaced something, I had noticed that the area toward the house was dug up a bit and the grass was no longer fully around the meter lid. Called them up and they were going to send someone out to look.

Brian and I then headed out and had lunch at the Beef, got to chat more with Nicole and we both had Cuban sandwiches that are about 1/4 too big for me.

We went over to Brands Mart and picked up an Xmas present and then drove over to the Duluth area to check on some stuff at Frys, mostly computer components for a new system for me. Decided not to spend the money at this time. I think I'll end up getting something in the Quad i7 with 8G RAM and a decent video card after the holidays.

We then ended up over at the Suwanee Taco Mac and had a couple of beers, me a Bells Cherry Stout and a New Belgium Fat Tire.

Home to mess on the computer some then out to Hooters to have fun with Patty and Rob, BrittanyR and Katrina were working bar and Katrina was a HOOT, pun intended. Came home and messed with the Beer Database, moving to the new BeerServings Table and starting to change the PHP files to use INNER JOIN. Didn't get to bed until late.

slow day at work, computer troubles continue, music and song with beer

Work is really starting to slow down. Not many folks left and to make matters worse my computer is on the fritz. Got my 15 year gift (my anniversery is really not until the end of January but my team lead didn't want to hold onto it that long.

I spent the evening first working on the computer at home and then heading over to Beef O'Brady's for a few beers and some music. Brock was there playing the guitar and singing and as an added treat his wife and bartender Nicole was there on the customer side of the bar. Along with her and some other off duty waitresses we had a great time. Met up with the couple Amy? and ??? who I'd met quite awhile back at Taco Mac Mall of GA. Closed the place down at about midnight and came on home to watch some TV.

did nothing but mess with my broken computer

I've been having a hard time with my computer for the last week or so. There is something going on that has got the disk activity light staying on continuously except for when the computer finally just locks up.

I've tried to move the SWAP file to a better disk (one with more space) and removed possible viruses and SPAM ware. Earlier I had some issues with a few viruses showing up and un-installed several programs I didn't recognize, now I think they are ones that are for working at home through the Sybase VPN thing.

Trying to decide if I can just buy another computer and start moving things over. I'd love to get a Quad processor and about 4-8G of memory.

After work I decided to head over to the Tilted Kilt for a beer and something to eat. Called up Becky but she was busy about to go to dinner with a couple of friends at Perimeter. So I went solo, got to chat with a cutie named Fallon and left about the time the same gal from last time me and the Rogers crew went over there, the one with all the tattoos, on both hips, on the arms and on the wrists.

After I just went on home and watched some TV, couch potato I am. Nicki got home from work at LA Fitness, she likes the people there and thinks it will be fun.

the whole weekend, rainy and cold

The weather was horrible all weekend, there is a meteor shower tonight at midnight and the clouds are not going to part at all.

On Friday I was suppose to do a party with Becca but it fell through since there was going to be a small attendance. Whatever, I just decided to stop in at the Suwanee Taco Mac for a beer and dinner then headed on home. Went out to Beefs and got to sit with Jaime for awhile before getting home and starting to watch "Angels and Demons" on DVD.

Saturday started out slow and due to the shitty weather I just sat lazily around the house till almost 2pm when I finally got out and took the photos I'd taken at the 3rd Anniversary Hooters celebration over there to hand out photos. Got to have some crab legs as well as google at BritanyR (B-Rich) she has the most beautiful dark long straight hair I've ever seen. Jaime (dude from Chicago) showed up and it was cool to catch up with him.

The evening was mainly finishing Angels and Demons and starting the new Harry Potter movie. Then stopped in at the Taco Mac at the Mall and had a beer. Saw the cute little strawberry blonde, Stephanie the Pharmacist. The one really into Hockey, Thrashers Hockey to be exact, she left too quick though. Came home and then finished the Potter movie and hit the sack.

Sunday was about the same, it was still raining. I did get out a bit earlier and drove over through Suwanee, first to the Olde Towne Tavern to have lunch and then to Taco Mac for beer. Saw an old friend, Jeff (little Jeff) from back in the day at Buffaloes. He has a condo now right there at the Suwanee Center behind the City Hall. Had the De Koninck Winter De Koninck while watching the Falcons finish losing the game against New Orleans. The crew there isn't as good as it's been, no Beverly again, frown face...

Came home and got to hang with Nicki again finally. Watched a bunch of TV . Watched Dexter, didn't like the way the season ended.

a very noteworthy day lots of things happening

I got a email from Nicki that she is the student of the semester in her math class and has the highest grade average!

View Announcement

Congratulations!
December 10, 2009 1:47 PM
Congratulations to Alyssa Walton who has been selected for the Student of the Semester for this class.

Way to go Alyssa!

Jo

I COPIED AND PASTED THE NOTE THAT WAS SENT TO THE WHOLE CLASS! MY AVERAGE IS A 98.34%

Also, the folks at work are moving all around. We are going through our couple year turmoil were they move everyone around according to what groups they are in. This changes so in about another year or so they will have to do it again to get everyone grouped together again. I'm not moving but I've got about 3 new people all around me now.

Went to the Total Wine store again at lunch to just possibly pick up a four gift 4-pack of Duvel beers with a glass. Instead I picked up a six of mixed beers, mostly from Thomas Creek and then a Hobgoblin with a Glass and a special holiday beer I just can't recall now.

botm, was feeling like crap but just couldn't stay away

I stopped in at Suwanee T-Mac for the BOTM, also had a Magic Hat Howl, a Dark Lager. I had picked up some sushi from Whole Foods on the way home and had eaten it during the drive. My head was feeling like it was full of cotton and I think I was running a bit of a temperature. Had a little cry-fest along with a few other Florida Fans there and the dude from Alabama wasn't giving us any sympathy.

I was home by about 7:30 and after installing the two ink cartridges for the printer just didn't feel like hanging around the house so I went out to have something more to eat (feed a cold?) and went over to Beefs for a bowl of chili and got to talk with Chelsea and Liz. Came home and started the EXPORT of the time lapse of the sunset from yesterday.

trivia a no go...

I needed to get some ink for the printer so I decided to head over to Fry's before going over to Hooters for Trivia.

When I got to Hooters I found out after texting everyone that they were all bailing on my. If I had listened to the message that Patty left yesterday I would have already known it. So instead I just had a few beers and eat some crab legs. Got to see Kate and Lauren.

I stopped in at Beefs since I thought that Jaime was working, wasn't disappointed and got a great big hug. chatted with her for a bit and then headed on home.

All is looking good today. Nicki got home about 11am and by 2pm she had gotten calls about jobs. Possibly the LA Fitness job will come through for her, it's a bit far away (Tucker) but is close to her school.

I got up early and was through my Dr. appt before 10am. Started messing with the computer again, doing finances and consolidating my web favorites.

It's a nice day out with highs close to 70 and the sun is shining, only got out to Beefs for lunch and saw Jan from the pool.

Got out some more Christmas stuff, stockings are hanging from the mantel, small tree on the banister upstairs and the Nutcracker is by the front door.
another day of just hangin' out

After getting home from work I missed a few texts and a call due to a dead battery. Didn't get to Hooters along with the Rogers crew. Instead I just hung out at the house, caught up on Heroes and watched some Three Sheets.

Doctor's Appt tomorrow.

wants, needs and gots to haves

I would really love to have a copy of the latest PhotoShop CS4, I have Elements 8.0 but too many of the things I'd like to do require masking and Smart Objects that can't really be done well or at all with Elements. Terrible thing is that the price difference between CS4 and Elements is over $600, not really where I'd like to spend it.

There still are things I'd like to get from B&H Photo, mainly a few things for lighting. I may just order the super clamp that will hold my boom.
